  • About Us

The idea for The Frame Builder came from personal experiences that would probably sound familiar to many other artists looking for the best way to display their work.
You’ve put in the hours. You’ve booked the gallery. Your experience at the frame shop is … underwhelming.
Simply put: I got tired of the limited selection, pre-fab products and unwelcoming attitude I encountered at many frame shops.
But the Internet has leveled the playing field. You’re no longer stuck with only a few options. If you can’t find what you need down the street, you can probably find it on the Web. That’s where millions of people turn every day for all kinds of top quality goods and services, from books to plane tickets, clothing to cameras, pet products to financial planning. So why not for high-end printing and framing?
At The Frame Builder, we take your work, produce an archival print made to last for generations and construct a museum-quality, hand built frame to showcase it — all at a fraction of the cost of traditional frame shops.
And we’ll deliver it right to your doorstep.
You choose the frame, find the price that works for you, and I’ll take care of everything else.
Attention to detail is of the utmost priority when I’m creating a frame for your piece. I want your completed work to be something you will be proud of, whether it’s hanging on the wall of your living room or the wall of a gallery. If you live in the Lawrence, Kansas area, I am available for personal consultation by appointment. If you live elsewhere, please feel free to e-mail or call me.

  • FAQ

At The Frame Builder, our mission is to provide handcrafted, custom framing made to order.

    • What printing method does The Frame Builder use?

We use the latest Epson professional large format printers to ensure the highest quality and consistency of your print. Using a combination of Epson's precision MicroPiezo TFP™ print head technology and the extraordinary performance of Epson UltraChrome® HDR inks, we are able to produce archival fine art prints of unprecedented quality and longevity.

    • What type of paper do you use?

We are an exclusive dealer of Intellicoat papers, a company that is committed to reducing its carbon footprint. Intellicoat provides world-class image quality manufactured to archival standards. The products it offers are made of 100 percent cotton, are internally buffered, and contain no optical brighteners.

    • How do you process payments?

We are proud to partner with PayPal, which makes it fast and easy to use credit cards, debit cards, or bank transfers to complete your transaction. You don't even need a PayPal account, just enter your information and PayPal will take care of the rest.

    • What products do you use for glazing?

We use Tru Vue Acrylite® (plexiglass) for all of our custom framing. Tru Vue offers a full line of acrylics for every need. Premium Clear Acrylite® acrylic general-purpose glazing is ideal for indoor framing. Optium Museum Acrylic® (anti-reflective) combines both a high quality magnetron sputtered anti-reflective coating and superior 98 percent ultraviolet light blocking protection for other settings. We can provide the right glass option for every need.

    • Who will build the frame for my print?

All custom frames are hand built in our Lawrence, Kansas facility. We have years of experience, and will use the utmost care to provide our customers with museum-grade framing at a fraction of the cost.

    • What type of matboard will The Frame Builder use for my print?

Crescent Cardboard Company, L.L.C. is the leading manufacturer of matting products for the picture framing industry. The Frame Builder is proud to offer the full line of Crescent products ranging from the decorative line intended for general framing to RagMat Museum Solids cotton matboards — the only matboard guaranteed safe next to any artwork. The entire RagMat line meets museum conservation standards as set by the Fine Art Care and Treatment Standards — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to art preservation — and the Fine Art Trade Guild, the trade association for the art and framing industry.

  • ARTIST GALLERIES

Of all of the services provided by theframebuilder.com, among the most important is the introduction of artist galleries. Framebuilder artist galleries allow local and regional artists to submit their own work at their own pace and allows them the ability to offer prints for sale immediately. By linking to their personal gallery pages from their individual web sites, artists are able to provide printing services with little to no overhead.

If you are interested in obtaining your own gallery, please contact us at theframebuilder@gmail.com.
